I trained as a painter and colour is at the heart of my work. But with an urge to explore our relationship to the surfaces on which the colour sits, I manipulate the planes of the work to create constructions and reliefs.
Most of my work is wall mounted and minimal in appearance, and varies greatly in size. I work with paper, card, wood and plastics. Because of my interest in the position of the viewer and the science of light, there is an installational element to the hanging or siting of the work.
My inspiration comes from the observation of horizons, puddles, buttercups, packaging, architecture... I aim to puzzle and delight.
