Mary Zammit

I am a professional basketmaker and qualified teacher living and working in Builth Wells.

I weave individually designed baskets and larger structures with an emphasis on both form and function, drawing on techniques from English, Welsh and French willow working traditions.

My courses, workshops and regular classes explore traditional willow working skills and the use of willow colour, texture and form as a creative medium.

Locally grown willow and the rich variety of hedgerow material available for wild gathering, continue to feed my passion for this ancient craft. Through my work and teaching I seek to inspire others to develop the skills of generations past and ensure their place in a more sustainable future.
