I live and work in Trefecca, near Talgarth, surrounded by hundreds of rescued animals. I graduated with a degree in Illustration in 2009, and my work is largely based on my humble upbringing amongst the animals.
When I work, I think what interested and inspired me as a child, and implement that into my illustrations. Working mainly in children's books and for children, I love creating pictures you can look at time and time again and always have something new to see. My first children's book was a runner up in the 2008 Macmillan Prize, and my latest one has received wide interest from London publishers such as Harper Collins and Random House, many of whom I've since produced samples for.
Whilst the bulk of my work is digital, I try to keep everything as handmade as possible. As well as my drawings and paintings, I work/have worked in print, animation, and fabric - currently I am creating a horde of stuffed animals!
For me, the most fun I can have is when I am drawing or making. I'm happy to say that there is no pretension behind my work - it simply exists to show that fun and make people smile. That's really all I could hope for!
