I have been a childrens' book illustrator for many years, working for London publishers including Hodder, Random House and Tango Books, as well as for Welsh publishers such as Y Lolfa and Gwasg Carreg Gwalch. I have also written and illustrated four picture books, published by Macmillan Childrens' Books, Blackie and Duttons.
In recent years, my practice has expanded to include painting and printmaking. I am currently taking an MA in Fine Art at Aberystwyth School of Art, where drawing is a core part of the aesthetic ethos. Drawing has always been fundamental to my work as an illustrator, and it is now the basis of my printmaking practice. Paradoxically, while the act of drawing is intimately bound up with our physicality, it also allows unlimited access to our imagination. Although imagination is crucial to illustration, I am finding a new freedom in working without a text.
I am currently working on lithographs inspired by my experiences of life, death, DJing, and working with Mayan people in Guatemala.
